Charles S. Langley
Pastor Charles Steven Langley is a Worshipper of Christ Jesus, Servant-leader, Teacher, resilient Preacher, Counselor, Motivational Speaker, Mentor, and a distinguished Visionary dedicated to building the kingdom of God. A reputable man of God, he is passionate about reaching out to lost souls and giving to the needs of his congregation and the community in which he serves. Pastor Charles is the founder and Lead Visionary of the Refuge Church of God in Christ.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of fifteen in a revival conducted by Evangelist Isaac Patrick at the Rehoboth Temple C.O.G.I.C. Having known at a very young age there was a calling on his life, he submitted himself to the leadership influence of Pastor (now Jurisdiction Bishop) George A. Williams and received clarity on his call to service. Recognizing and nurturing the anointing and calling upon his life, he was ordained by Bishop O.T. Jones Jr. of the Commonwealth Jurisdiction of PA in 1978. He then started his ministry in 1989 in the living room of his mother, the late Catherine Langley with a few members that comprise his family. Over the years, the church has grown to be that Bridge over Trouble Waters to cause Mankind to run after God like never before. A literary scholar, he dedicates himself to reading four to five books a week and utilizes this knowledge to bring the word of God to life for his congregants.
Pastor Charles is known for his vibrant, powerful, and passionate manner in which he preaches and teaches the gospel of Christ; with the aim of equipping Christians with the knowledge to handle issues of life with results. Under the leading of the Holy Spirit, he immensely focuses his teaching on Christ-centered Bible-based messages that are highly relatable and applicable. As the Vice President of the Pentecostal Network, he continues to maintain strong ties within the community and civic organizations. In addition, he devotes his time, energy, and compassion to providing educational, behavioral, marital, Pre-marital, and more counseling services to churches, educators, married couples, engaged couples, and community initiatives.
Tapping into his educational background, Pastor Langley is a product of the Philadelphia public education system. He was one of the first men to graduate from William Penn High, which at that time was an all-girls school. He then attended the LaSalle University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Seeking to widen his horizon of ministerial learnings, he completed the Christian Stronghold “Pastoring with a Purpose” program.
He is a true man of God devoting his life to the purpose in which God has predestinated for him. Pastor Charles is happily married for th years to his wife Carla Langley whom he affectionately calls “Sweetness.” They are blessed with six grown children (Melanie, Candice, Tiffany, Stephanie, Charles Jr., and Ashia) and four grandchildren. He has a kind and open spirit that reaches out to everyone with which he comes in contact with daily. Each day, he propels many with great wisdom using powerful, practical, and realistic scriptural strategies.
Ultimately, he craves to open the hearts of people all around the world to experience the freedom of liberty, healing, restoration, and blessings in Christ Jesus.
